More than just Ninja Moves!
Exercise and Flexibility
Exercise and flexibility training for children is absolutely vital, as it aids in the development of their growing bones, muscles, and cardiovascular systems. It also provides them with an outlet for their neverending energy and promotes behaviors and habits that lead to a healthy, productive life!
Tumbling
Tumbling is a core part of our curriculum, as it remains one of the most effective activities a child can undertake to supplement their mental and physical development. In addition to building gross motor skills (those that require coordination of the entire body, and especially stabilization of the core), tumbling helps children practice setting goals and persevering towards them, which ultimately leads to major gains in self-esteem and confidence!
Obstacle Courses
Obstacle courses are a staple for any ninja program and we use them regularly in our beginner and younger classes. This is a great way for newer students to develop coordination and strength, while having fun! That said, a great program should account for the fact that there will come a time where even the fanciest obstacle courses are not challenging or exciting enough. As our students begin to reach this point, we shift gears, focusing more on mastering skills and combinations.
Trampoline Training
While it can make parents understandably nervous, a well-supervised trampoline training regimen is second to none in helping children quickly develop spacial awareness, increased strength, and endurance. If you've ever bounced on a trampoline for more than 30 seconds, you know this to be true! We work the trampoline station into every one of our classes to help beginner students become comfortable with their abilities, and to help more advanced students safely practice trickier techniques.
Tricking
Tricking is a freestyle form of movement that combines skills from other disciplines like taekwondo, breakdancing, tumbling, and more. While many gymnastics, dance, and martial arts programs lean heavily on competition and performance, the benefits of tricking are more intrinsic, focusing on self-improvement, resilience, and pushing one's own limits, rather than showmanship or winning trophies. We've worked with hundreds of students over the years whose parents describe them as very athletically capable, yet uninterested in "traditional" sports. A big part of our mission here at NeoMotion is to provide those students with an alternative activity where they can challenge themselves at their own pace without missing out on the benefits of organized sports activities.
Social Interaction
It's no secret that humans require social interaction to grow into their best selves. Learning to wait their turn, appreciate the differences in others, and to interact confidently with their peers is yet another benefit of training at NeoMotion. Our motto is "Stronger Every Day" for a reason - life requires strength and proper social skills are an essential building block!
